This year if you are going to follow along at SIHH, you may have noted the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph TOP GUN is made of the new material Ceratanium®, which possesses the lightweight feel of titanium and the scratch resistance of ceramic. In a sense, it sits at the very top of the IWC pilot’s line. Actually it’s five years that took IWC to develop, and it’s been the proprietary completely. 
Originally Ceratanium® is a unique titanium alloy that contains zirconium oxide, which is then cut and milled into finished replica watch components – after they’re shaped, brushed, and polished, the almost finished parts go into a special oven. This is where the transformation takes place. Once the outermost parts of the metal reach a certain temperature, the zirconium oxide hardens into ceramic, which is distributed throughout the metal itself. The color turns matte black and the finish is exceedingly resistant to scratches and wear. What should be mentioned is the material, totally different from a coating such as PVD, the whole material is Ceratanium® from start to finish. Therefore, a tough-as-nails, light-as-a-feather 39mm case is rather comfortable for wearing. You can’t believe how light it is.
Let’s take a look at the dial. we keep it simple and pay a tribute to the IWC in the past with painted white Arabic numerals with stick indexes at three, six, and nine o’clock. While the characteristic arrow at 12 o’clock can be seen on old pilot’s watches. The handset with center seconds matches the luminous stick and arrow indexes. General the dial is legible and reminiscent of the vintage pilot’s watches that we are very fond of. The strap is a durable olive green embossed calfskin strap with Ceratanium® pin buckle. In reality, the crown, buckle, and caseback are all made of Ceratanium®, which can’t be possible made by ceramic. Few people would notice that, right?
The IWC caliber 35100 is the movement inside the IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition “HODINKEE”, which is a no-date automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. On the back you’ll see a no fuss solid caseback as usual but with far less text relative to the existing pilot’s collection.
You can imagine how comfortable, lightweight, and easy while you putting this timepiece on your wrist. The famous and well respected watch brand Hamilton today marries the best in Swiss engineering prowess with a design ethos which is unmistakably American. It has become more and more popular for replica watch collectors all over the world.
It has roots that date all the way from 1892, when the newly-formed enterprise bought out the bankrupt Keystone Standard Watch Company and build in their factory in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The luxury replica Hamilton‘s reputation for precision was enough for the Broadway by the turn of the century, and later the 21-jewel 992, to become the official watches of the American Expeditionary Forces, and in 1914 the company was opted to supply the whole of the U.S military. The First World War also signaled the beginning of the end of the pocket fake watch, with soldiers rigging their pieces to wear on their wrist, leaving both hands free for combat. Taking note, Hamilton released their first wristwatch, the 981. By the end of WWI, a new market had appeared, even more thriving than the railroads; aviation. In the 1930s, the brand became the approved contractor to the biggest names in commercial flight—TWA, Eastern, United and Northwest. This setup allows the chronograph to measure 1/100th of a second, which while completely useless is still a very impressive feat. It’s central chronograph hand makes one full rotation of the dial every second when activated, with its six o’clock subdial measuring chronograph seconds. A 30-minute chronograph subdial is positioned at three o’clock. Its open-worked dial gives its wearer a thoughtful view into the unique caliber, with both balance wheels being visible from the dial side of the fake watch.
Further adding to the Defy 21’s appeal is its case design and overall comfort, though measuring 44mm across, it is still relatively compact from lug to lug. Its proportions are in the same vein as a Royal Oak Offshore, though the use of titanium for its case makes it a fair bit lighter on the wrist. The layout of its broad pushers and crown also indicates you’ll avoid that “digging into the wrist” feel that can come from chronographs if you prefer to wear your replica watches somewhat loose on the wrist. However, it’s a touch too chunky to try and pass off with a suit, but for a more casual daily-wearing chronograph that isn’t shy on personality the Defy 21 makes a solid choice.
